Ruth Krauss
(1901 - 1993)
Ruth Krauss (July 25, 1901 – July 10, 1993) was an American writer of children’s books, including The Carrot Seed, and of theatrical poems for adult readers. Many of her books are still in print. She was married to Crockett Johnson.
Maurice Sendak characterized Krauss as “a giant” in the world of children’s literature.
